AMS includes functionality to bring depth and control over the manufacturing environment, providing the tools needed to understand and grow the business. Here are just a few features found inside the Advanced Manufacturing System: Accounting System Integration AMS seamlessly integrates with the Advanced Business Manager (ABM) and Sybiz Vision financial systems to combine accounting, production, ordering, and inventory management. Integration with the financial system means there is no doubleentry of information, as the system allows transactions made in the AMS to be posted automatically into the business's accounting system. Reducing the time it takes to manage your business's financial information enables time efficiency within administration. Note: the AMS is not limited by the accounting system used by a business, AMS can be used as a strictly stand-alone system with full functionality. Reporting Extensive reporting functionality has been provided as powerful analytical tools for planning, managing and much more. The AMS reporting system uses the Business Solutions Crystal Reports engine. The Crystal reporting engine delivers a great amount of flexibility allowing freedom in customising reports to requirements. The reporting system delivers numerous features including: ? ? ? ? ? ? Dynamic changing of report data groupings and report data sort order. Direct passing of information to reports. Filters, selectors and parameters as mechanisms for adjusting report content Easy to use and navigate interface. Report linking. And more... 05 System-Wide Features Grouping Grouping works by starting with a category, such as 'bill of materials', then creating a group type inside that category which has defined properties and rules. Any group created and linked to that group type would inherit its properties and rules. Groups are an important component of AMS. Groups control the updating of work in progress (WIP) accounts in the general ledger of the financial system and are also used to assist in reporting and management of AMS data. This style of structure allows for information, activities, rules and responsibilities for each group to be kept separated and manageable. The organisation and structure of the manufacturing elements using groups is a key method in how AMS simplifies overall management, creating an easy to use and logical environment. System Tables AMS uses system tables to identify and separate different areas of management. The system tables consist of: ? ? ? ? ? Inventory Table Customer Table Supplier Table Accounts Table Job Table ? ? ? ? Staff Records Table Skills Table Priorities Table Resources Table Simple and Familiar Interfaces Menus and navigation within the system is designed to be simple and fast. By using familiar Microsoft Office style menus, fast toolbar menus, and handy hot keys, AMS creates a friendly environment for all users. This facilitates the sharing of information between the organisation's accounting system and AMS, as well as providing an easy to use system for separating and managing all aspects of the manufacturing. The tables provide a deep functionality with the data to allow the user to freely edit, maintain, analyse, and so much more. Another way AMS helps to simplify the complexities within manufacturing. Database AMS uses the Mircosoft SQL Server/MSDE database engine for superior reliability and performance with added security to your company's data. 06 Module Features Each module is designed to provide specific manufacturing functionality and can be purchased separately in accordance with individual business requirements, with an exception to the Bill of Materials module which is compulsory for the system. The modules are based around the core functionality of bills of materials for items that are manufactured by a business. Bill of Materials (BOM) Module The Bill of Materials (BOM) module is the foundation of the Manufacturing Suite and provides the user with a powerful and flexible BOM and production tool, features include: BOM Maintenance The bill of materials/ manufacturing functionality makes the task of maintaining detailed bills of components, sub components and expenses for a product easy. Bills can be manually created within the system or imported from external data files. BOM Versioning and linked information BOMs can be created, maintained and deleted, and multiple versions of each BOM are possible with user definable names and pictures for each version. Maximum and minimum production limits can be set, and different costing methods are available for different BOMs. Workflow management Work flows for producing BOM can be managed using powerful stage and workcentre functionality. Stages and work centres can be integrated with the scheduling module to provide flexible finite capacity functionality. Grouping The module provides unlimited custom definable groups and unlimited alternative production possibilities for each BOM. Unlimited components and sub-assemblies are allowed per BOM with these component types including inventory items, overheads, labour, resources, alternate, milestones, outwork and "Phantom" assemblies. Component detail Each component can have its own notes and user-defined groups attached to it, and store separate figures for set-up, per unit and clean-up quantities. Component wastage can be recorded as percentages or quantities. 07 Module Features Customised BOM at Production time Each run can use standard bills or the user can customise a bill for a specific production run. Full facilities are provided for cost comparisons and shortage report generation (with the supply analysis module). Production supports multi-location inventory and serial/ batch tracking. After the fact production recording The BOM module accommodates 'afterthe-fact' recording of production. As progress in each work order/production is made, the component items used are automatically adjusted from inventory, and the finished products are automatically received into inventory. Multiple BOM per Production Run Each production run can be for one or more BOM providing huge flexibility for the user. Default production "rules" can be set for each BOM or group of BOM. Easy Production Management The standard BOM module allows production runs/ work orders to be processed in a similar way as traditional bill of materials modules. The user can select an item for production and the desired quantity of the item, and then this requirement can be stored as a production run. When the run is ready to be produced all of the issues and receipts are done in one step and the appropriate stock records are updated. Hierarchical Tree Interface The AMS maintains bills of materials with an easy-to-use hierarchical tree interface. The user can produce accurate and informative reports detailing bill structures, expected costings, component requirements and production history. A strong foundation for all other modules to be added to, the BOM module has the capability to extend its functionality with additional modules or alternatively be used as a system on its own. Linking to Jobs in the Accounting System Each production run can be linked to jobs in the accounting system job cost ledger and can receipt finished products back to jobs. 08 Module Features Extended Production Module The extended production module extends the production facilities provided in the standard BOM module to allow for multiple stages of production, outwork, and work in progress. Detailed costs can be entered against a production as required and all production costs are posted against work in progress (WIP) accounts until they are either returned to stock or finished product is issued to stock. WIP postings are available by bill, production and components. Categories can be set up for bills, production runs and components. WIP posting rules are determined by one or more categories, and groups within the categories determine posting accounts. Demand Analysis Module Product demand is a requirement to provide goods. From an AMS perspective open sales orders, production runs, stock shortages, minimum stock levels can all produce demand. A work order/production is created in the Manufacturing System to manage the production of finished products from components based on anticipated demand for the product. The demand analysis module analyses product requirements in the accounting and manufacturing system by examining sales quotations, orders, deliveries, invoices, job quotations and other production runs to produce recommendations for required work orders. Using demand analysis, production runs can be linked to customer demands such as quotes, orders, invoices, deliveries and job estimates/quotes. This allows users to manage production both to free stock (inventory) and to order as well as be able identify customers affected by changes to production schedules. Production run receipts of finished products can be made against specific demands. Production runs can be linked to other production runs using demand analysis. For example, tables may require table legs to be produced before the tables can be completed so using demand analysis the table legs can be identified as being required for the tables and scheduled accordingly. The display of demand results is customisable to make production planning simpler. 09 Module Features Job & Bulk Entry Module The Job Entry provides a very flexible interface for users who need to enter transactions against multiple production runs. In particular it: ? Provides job entry functions that allow the user to select the type transaction (production issue, receipt, production build, labour, etc.) and quickly complete the transaction details without having to separately open each production run. Provides a facility to import transactions from external data files. ? ? Is designed for fast data entry. Optionally allows users to confirm the actual component issues and receipts when production builds have been entered. Supports all issues at all levels of BOM for production runs including sub-assemblies ? ? 10 Module Features Supply Analysis Module One of the most critical and time-consuming aspects of manufacturing is managing the task of maintaining sufficient amounts of raw materials and components at all times. Product supply is based on inventory stock levels, open purchase orders, lead times and components required. The AMS Supply Analysis module helps manage the material requirement planning process. The module simplifies and speeds up the work processes of purchasing by analysing component demand and taking into account lead times for an inventory item. With the supply analysis module users can produce reports based on "action by" date to advise the purchasing manager which orders need to be placed, and can also raise purchase orders into the accounting system. It also has the ability to analyse one or more production runs for shortages and requirements and recommend purchasing, building or reserving the components in accordance with ordering lead times and requirement dates. Production runs can be analysed for sub-assemblies that need to be built before completing the final products. The AMS interacts with the purchasing process of the accounting system to the extent that deliveries can be automatically issued to the appropriate production run. Forecasting Forecasting gives users the ability to create mvodels for determining future production, components and requirements. The forecasting functionality includes the following features: ? ? ? ? Several forecasts can be created for manufacturing of products Forecasts can contain any number of products along with quantities required, locations and dates required Forecast models interact with BOM, allowing easy updates if the master BOM changes Forecasted products are easily included into the materials planning module, blending actual requirements with forecasted requirements. 11 Module Features Materials Planning Material Planning helps manage inventory levels based on current and planned production runs, forecast models, sales movement, and purchase movement. Material Planning works with similar information to the supply analysis functionality but displays the product information using a planning grid, right mouse menus and flexible on screen filtering. After entering a few simple parameters, the module completes a powerful and comprehensive analysis process, giving users information relating to: ? ? ? ? ? ? Material shortages by date range and what production work the shortages will impact on Quantities required for production runs All components for a particular stage Quantities required and produced for forecasted productions Quantities required and produced for production runs Sales and purchase movements Materials Planning Grid This information is able to be displayed by date brackets allowing users to plan and understand material requirements over time. 12 Module Features Production Quotation Module The module allows users to customise BOM information in response to particular client requirements and then provide a quotation to a client based on the anticipated costs of the customised bill of manufacturing. In particular, the module: ? ? Records quotation 'header' information such as the customer's name, payment terms, note, validity date, etc. Maintains quotation details including individual items for the quotation such as inventory items, ledger accounts, text, and for each item specifies quantity, sales analysis and pricing information. Allows adding of one or more BOM to the quotation and for each bill maintains all of the production run details. ? Allows each BOM in the quotation to be varied on an 'as required' basis. Full costing and margin information is displayed for each BOM allowing the user to make accurate decisions on costing methods and markup amounts. Produces printed professional quotations for the customer. ? ? Once the quotation has been accepted by the client it can then be converted to planned production runs and a sales order can be raised in the accounting system, demonstrating the module's convenience and efficiency through powerful integration. 13 About Concept Engineering Philosophy Information is one of the most valuable assets an organisation has, if managed correctly.
